Steatite Integrated Systems is an Engineering Company specialising in the design and manufacture of military-grade operator consoles and 19” Rack Cabinets, providing complex integrated solutions that span the entire lifecycle of projects. Operating from a modern purpose designed facility in Ashchurch, Gloucestershire (UK) we offer System Design, Development and Qualification Engineering capabilities.
The facility has the manufacturing capability and experience necessary to meet the demanding budgets and timescales required by our military customers for equipment that is designed and engineered to operate in the most challenging environments. We have a wealth of experience in Naval and Land systems, working with the major Defence Prime Contractors and the MoD.
Steatite leverage Commercial Off-The-Shelf (COTS) components to accelerate development and reduce costs, while customising these systems to meet the stringent requirements of Naval and military hardware. Our deep domain expertise in the areas of computing, displays, power, communications, and electronics design allows us to offer adaptable and future-proofed solutions, where reliability and longevity of supply are critical.
Multifunction Operator Consoles
We offer both the ground-up design of new operator consoles, while also being able to refresh the capabilities of existing consoles via the design and integration of upgrade kits.
Rugged Rack Cabinets
Our enclosures are designed to protect sensitive electronics from the high levels of shock and vibration, extremes of temperature, and electromagnetic interference (EMI) that may be experienced in a harsh marine environment.
Through-Life Support Services
Military platforms often have an operational life measured in decades, which can make supporting the high-tech onboard systems particularly challenging – Steatite can help take away some of this pain.
Design Services
Steatite always prefer to utilise COTS hardware wherever possible, but, when a project demands it, we have the in-house capability to customise existing hardware or to design new hardware from the ground up.
Integration Facility
Based in Ashchurch, Gloucestershire (UK) and offering around 7,000 square feet of production space, the new facility is ideally located to benefit from a wealth of local Engineering and Manufacturing talent, while offering good transport links to the rest of the country.
Engineering
Our experienced engineering team design and develop complex systems to exacting specifications and industry / defence standards. Taking the design from initial customer requirements, we provide progressive assurance throughout the design cycle to qualification and then factory acceptance.
Integrated Logistics Support (ILS)
Experience of creating specialist reports, such as RADHAZ, human factors design checklist, and availability, reliability and maintainability.
Safety & Environmental Support
Safety case reports, hazard logs, and fire risk evidence reports along with legislation compliance reports and environmental management system certification.
Technical Publications
Expertise in the writing of technical manuals including installation guides and user manuals.
Supply Chain Management
Experience of multi-national and multi-cultural supply techniques and best practices. Eliminating waste and adding value through process improvements, training and cost down activities.
Project Management
Steatite has a team of Project Managers that are proficient in managing large scale projects using PRINCE2 project management methodology.
Qualification & Verification
Equipped with in-house facilities for electromagnetic compatibility (EMC), shock, vibration, and thermal testing to MIL-STDs and DEF-STANs , allowing us to validate the robustness and resilience of our systems under simulated extreme conditions.
Electromechanical Assemblies
We specialise in the integration of mechanical, electromechanical and electronic components, producing assemblies that are durable and simple to maintain, while meeting the operational and environmental demands that will be placed upon them.
Electronics Assemblies
In-house design of complex high-speed multi-layer PCB assemblies. Leveraging cutting-edge technologies and following industry best practices, our electronics assemblies are designed for long-term reliable performance.
Through-Life Support & Obsolescence Management
Steatite is committed to providing comprehensive through-life support, ensuring the ongoing functionality, availability, and relevancy of our systems. Our proactive obsolescence management strategies safeguard against component obsolescence, guaranteeing uninterrupted operational continuity.
Low to High Volume Manufacturing
With a scalable manufacturing infrastructure, Steatite is equipped to seamlessly transition from low-volume prototyping to high-volume production, catering to diverse project requirements with efficiency and precision.
COTS Where Possible, Custom Where Necessary
As well as offering the design and assembly of consoles and cabinets, Steatite also manufacture and supply Commercial Off-The-Shelf (COTS), Modified/Military Off-The-Shelf (MOTS), and custom industrial- and military-grade computer systems, displays, KVMs, and resilient time servers, at our Redditch facility.
We can integrate these devices into the consoles and cabinets that we design and build in Tewkesbury, and we are also happy to incorporate third party hardware, and government furnished equipment (GFE), as required.
